Pretty QR is a free QR code generator that lets small businesses, marketers, and creators design branded QR codes with custom colours, logos, shapes, and frames, without an account.
The story
A few years ago, Ozan Tunca saw a heart-shaped QR code on a billboard at an airport. It still scanned, and it looked nothing like the usual black-and-white square. As an engineer, Ozan could not stop thinking about how to make one like it.
Pretty QR started from that creative challenge. Ozan launched it in 2025 in Berlin as a way for anyone to make QR codes that look like part of a design: your colours, your logo, and a shape and frame that fit the poster or menu they sit on.
The first release was a live-preview editor with colours, logos, and templates. Later releases added shaped codes, frames with a call to action, six content types, and optional accounts. More than 12,000 QR codes have been made with it so far.
Pretty QR is free and needs no account. It makes static codes, so a code you download keeps working with no subscription behind it.
Who makes it
Ozan Tunca is a software developer in Berlin who builds Pretty QR alone, end to end: the rendering engine, the editor, the templates, and support.
